SO PROUD

So Proud...the pride and love that a grandmother feels for her grandson....it shows in every block of this T-shirt quilt made by my friend MJ for her grandson CJ for his high school graduation.

Obviously, CJ is a baseball player, specifically a catcher. All of the details that went into this quilt punctuate his career in youth sports and high school athletics. I was blessed by being able to add the quilting details that complement all of the special features that MJ sewed into this quilt.

The hourglass design in the sashings symbolize CJ's countless hours of baseball practice.

1.78 seconds...CJ's pop-up time...quilted in the four corners.

Logcabin Trails

Logcabin blocks and fans make a great combination in this Logcabin Trails Quilt made by my friend, Gloria. Her choice of batiks really make this quilt special. The colors are so rich. I had not seen this pattern before, but I really like it.

I used a combination of straight line quilting and feathers in the logcabin blocks.

I used a ribbon design across the blade of the fans...just enough to give them definition.

The center of the quilt called for a medallion of sorts. I repeated the straight line and feather motifs in an original design in the center of the quilt.

Ladies, Ladies...

Ladies, ladies, you have never seen anything quite like the Ladies Quilt that I quilted for Alene. The quilt is made up of 6 blocks that contain 6 different ladies each dressed in a different color gown. They are all done in beautiful hand applique. The facial features were detailed with a Pigma pen. They are simply amazing. The quilt border also has hand appliqued vines and floral designs. The workmanship and choice of fabrics and colors makes this quilt a work of art!

I consider the custom quilting on this quilt to be one of my finest quilting accomplishments. Thank you Alene for giving me opportunity to be a part of your work of art. I can't wait to see it in a quilt show!

Soft Star Quilt

When I received this star quilt top to quilt, the owner, my friend Bobbi, was not very fond of the top she had created. I loved the soft creamy colors...she has a knack for putting colors together in a great way! After I studied the design for about five minutes, I knew exactly what this quilt was calling for...FEATHERS! And so, we have feathers!

We both loved the result...

The back is as beautiful as the front!

...and this quilt won a ribbon at the Gun Barrel Quilters Guild 2013 Quilt Show in Athens, Texas! Congratulations, Bobbi!!

Cottages

Wow! I'm sure you are as amazed as I am at all the detail in this Cottages quilt created by my mom. With all the details that she put into the top, I HAD to do lots of detailed quilting on it as well. It's the kind of quilt that every time you look at it...you see something that you missed before. The handwork is exquisite. I just hope my quilting does it justice!?!

 

 

Frogs, Fun, & Friends

Just had to share some wonderful quilts that I completed quilting for my friend Bernice.

Her hand embroidery work on the Frogs & Fun quilt is really nice. A quilt like this is fun to quilt because every block is different...I don't get bored repeating the same design over and over. This cute quilt would make a great baby/kids quilt, don't you think?

Bernice calls this quilt "Friendship" because it was a combined effort from my mom and her. You see, my mom had started the blocks for this quilt and then gave them to Bernice. She finished making the rest of the blocks and put the top together. Once again the custom quilting didn't give me a chance to get bored! Thanks, ladies, for giving me challenges!



The large white border was perfect for feathers.
